Huge Sign of Autumn

Look what is near my house.  Told you I was out in the country! He graces the entrance to Southern Manor Farms in Eatonton, GA.

Look at the great bits and pieces I used on this layout!  And on this one!

(thanks to Kelly for her cute pics on FB of the twins)

Want some of these cute things to grace your own Fall layouts?  Then go grab LLD's new kit, "Happy Fall Ya'll".  Its on sale for 30% off until Sept 29 at Scraps n Pieces.

Let's Go Way Out on a Limb

It is very quiet right now and I was trying to figure out what to do digi this afternoon.  I looked back over my blending class and then decided to find a photo and do something with it. We were at the Landing Club House one afternoon and I spotted this huge, perfect spider web.  This area has lots of spiders and spider webs, as I am discovering.

Here is what I ended up with.  Don't judge!  I went a bit crazy. Not sure how I ended up here.  I can actually envision this in a frame.

Drew some yellow lines over the web.

Preserving History

I inherited several old quilts from my Mom.  Right now they are in storage while we build our new house.  Before I packed all my stuff up, I took some photos of all my quilts and antiques bric a brac and such.  Today I wanted to use Pixel Scrapper's kit by Marisa Lerin, called Pretty Things.  So I went looking in my computer stash for one of what I call "my pretties".  I spotted this scan:

And turned it into this layout:

Here is the kit.  Click on the image to go grab it.  It is free if you are a Contributor to
Pixel Scrapper.  You will find the site full of eye candy!

Altered Portrait

I decided to try out this Altered Art that digiscrappers are creating. If you click on the digiscrap layout, it will take you to the Gallery at Oscraps, host of the altered art challenge.  I love this and think it will be worthy of framing.  I need to do more of this.  It is fascinating.

I used a photo that was taken by a friend in high school.  I remember that he had gotten a new camera and fancied himself a photographer and convinced me to sit for a portrait.  As you can see the colors were pretty bad and my hair was worse.  I erased the background, gave myself a haircut and then did a sketch effect and went from there.  Glad I never threw this out.  I am an admitted packrat.

"Snips and Snails"....and puppy dog tails, of course!  A cute name for a cute kit that is all boy!  Kimberly has filled her latest kit with all kinds of  things to make your layouts fun!  Let's go dig in the dirt!!
You can find it in her shop at Scraps n Pieces

When I spotted the sandbox in the kit, I knew I had to put some little kids digging in it!  What fun.

And, of course, my two granddogs:

A Little Modern Art

My niece took this photo of her kids relaxing on the sofa and the look on her son's face caught my attention.  I was in the mood for some art, as you have noticed from my last posts.  I took this photo:

and made this composition:  Captured!

More Magic with PSE Tutorials

While I was on the Digital Scrapper website today, the sketch-to-painting tutorial was mentioned in a forum.  I have tried this technique using lots of different techniques and never have been happy.  Digital Scrapper tutorials are so easy to follow, I bought it and started playing around.

One of my favorite photos taken while we were in Europe is this one:

I use it a lot when I am learning a new technique.

Today was no exception.  I am extremely happy with my end result.  I followed the instructions completely, but when I got to the blending on the paper, an unusual blend mode result caught my eye and this is what happened:

I will be back with a more traditional version of the tutorial later.  I just love turning boring photos into works of art.

Multiple Frame technique

I spent the afternoon with the Multiple Frame tutorial from this month's Digital Scrapper Premier kit.  I don't always want or need the kit at the moment, but the tutorials are great.  Today I took this photo:

And created this layout using the pattern and copy tools from PSE.  Opens a whole new artistic world.

Here's The Scoop

Do you have a little girl to scrap for?  This is the cutest kit by Leaving a Legacy Designs and it is on sale for just $2 today here.

LLD has a great Creative Team and I was inspired to scraplift them.  Here is a layout from Tina
 Here is mine:
I confess to a pretty literal scraplift.  I even put Tina's layout at the base of my own layout and placed the same elements in the same places.  I did add a few more touches to make it mine.  Thanks, Tina, for your inspiration!

Fall is Coming and Scraps N Pieces is Ready!

Summer is ending.  School is starting.  Everyone is settling into familiar routines - back packs, lunches, and fall sports like baseball and football.  If you need an escape, or find that with the kids in school you have a little free time available (what's that?), check out what the designers at Scraps N' Pieces have planned for you in September.

It happens eventually.  The big milestone birthdays are celebrated, through humor and gag gifts, and then the number somehow stops increasing.  Let's be 29 or 39 or 49 forever!  For all those "over the hill" birthday celebrations, grab Old As Dirt.  The bright palette will bring the life back into any party layout!

Grab the kit for just $7.99, the quick pages for $5.99, or go big with the bundle for $10.99.

The September Bits N' Pieces focuses on "My Guy" - all things that make us love our little guys (and even the big guys too).  These great colors definitely capture the masculine touch in these awesome products.
Remember all pieces are just $1 the first week of the month!  After the first week, the designers may combine their products into a full-size kit and all will be at regular price, so don't wait.  Also, the first weekly challenge each month is dedicated to the month's Bits N' Pieces products.  Use them in a layout, post it and link to gallery, and earn some points.  It's a win win!!

With school back in session, back to school kits are a big hit.  Want to grab some great notebook commercial-use elements for your next release?!?  Grab Off the Grid and you'll get a super cool combination of notebook paper, envelopes, sticky notes, and ledger paper.  Don't miss out!  It's on sale the first week of release at 35% off!

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is an annual national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the United States.  It also means lots of stuff will be on sale!  Celebrate Labor Day by kicking your feet up, buying some awesome stuff, and scrappin' away!  The entire store will be 30% off through Monday, September 2.

Be sure to add the following speed scraps to your calendar, and join us in the forum and chat for a lot of fun.
